Excursions from schools are always a means for transformation. The Queen Safari was nonetheless. The trip started at 10:30 pm on the 12th of March 2022 with the promise of great contentment. The travel through the lush greenery and water forms Southern India had to offer were pleasing to the eyes. The daybreak amidst the beauty of the hill stations of the state refreshed the students for their days ahead. The batch reached Kodaikanal Boat Club by 10:30 in the morning of 13th March 2022.
Paddling and rowing boats were two adventures the club offered. Students took turns boarding the boats as they admired the beautiful lake. After grabbing a bite from the streets, the group headed towards the popular Pine Forest of Kodaikanal. Strolling through the Tyndall effects cast by the noon sun welcomed the young hearts to nature’s bosom. Eventually, the gang reached Real Village Resort to spend the night. The resort seemed like a piece of a village with bamboo fences, swings, pools, and huts. Students positively celebrated the stay with campfires, games, heart-to-heart talks, photographs, and much more.
At the break of dawn, on 14th of March 2022 the party left early for the much-awaited tour through Parmbilkulam Tiger Reserve. The safari through the jungle was truly intriguing as they ventured into a new world among the trees. The enchanting lakes, the variety of trees, tree houses, and tribal villages were all both knowledgable and fascinating as the tour guide described them each. The group passed by several peacocks, troop of monkeys, herd of deer, crocodiles, and many more. On the way, shortstops were made to hike around the elegant Thoonakadav dam and the Kannimara Teak, one of the largest living teak that's fondly called the gentle giant. En route, the gang was dumbstruck to meet a family of elephants grazing under the midday sun.
While returning from the two-day excursion filled with zeal and zest the batch stopped by the historical Manjakulam maqam. Students perceived a transcend from the immense thrill of the day to divine serenity. The journey was a means to admire, enjoy and reflect which no doubt transformed each and everyone that took part. As they were arriving the campus, they reminisced over the few days that brought them closer to each other, the insightful journey that calmed their soul. All were sure to the core that the memory shall be cherished forever in their hearts.
